Communicating Environmental Messages

Being able to communicate and doing so effectively is essential to being able to deliver a message and inspire action.

Below is a guide on how you can effectively deliver your environmental messages!

1. Identify your audience

Think about who you are aiming your message at, are they students, are they millennials? Then think about their needs and passions and how you can relate your message to them.

2. Identify your platform

Once you have a good idea on who your target audience is, think about how you can reach them. You can choose many different platforms like a blog, club, or podcast. Additionally there are many social media platforms and advantages that come with each one. Some examples are Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

3. Apply the five E’s of Engagement

When relaying your messages make sure to use the Five E’s to reach your audience on a personal level. This makes your messages memorable and inspirational.

The Five E’s of Engagement are:

Empower

Encouraging your audience to speak.


Educate

Making sure your audience understands what your message is about, its purpose, and background.


Elevate

Make your audience feel important.


Ease

Make sure getting involved is easy and instructions on how to sign up, follow, or particpate is clear.


Entertain

Making sure your audience is happy, comfortable, and excited to be involved.

So whether its involvement through a school magazine, an environmental conference or simply through your own Instagram account, make sure to keep in mind these few extra tips that can make your messages just that much more effective!
